81 – Business Process Management Series: 4 Project Mapping (To-Be)

This is the last instalment of the Business Process Management Series. The first in the series was an introduction to Business Process Management (BPM), outlining its principles, practices, and benefits. It illustrated how to map effective processes and improvements that can be made to efficiently organise businesses, increasing their strategic value. The second displayed some basics behind Business Process Management Notation and mapped example Pizza Shop processes before continuing on with the series’ case study. In the post last week, the third in the series, we went through the process of WASTE Management in Business Process Management. There was a focus on identifying and reducing inefficiencies like DOWNTIME to improve business efficiency through LEAN and Six Sigma.

This post is about putting these into practice by implementing these improvements in a To-Be mapping process. By learning the why for Business Process Management, the As-Is how, and the ways to efficiently improve, it means that we can show how to successfully implement these changes in a manner that increases the opportunity cost for other business and strategic avenues for the business.

Below are the images of the implemented To-Be model, but I’ve also included the Bizagi file here. Here are the images for:

1. To-Be, Main Process

2. To-Be, Rendezvousing subprocess

3. To-Be, ECI Process subprocess

Is there a project that you’re currently working on that has too much DOWNTIME? Have you mapped it out? Have you reflected on how you might change aspects to improve your, and others’, work time? Have you mapped those? Send it through — I’d love to check it out!
